Retracted Article: Heath M, Yalamuri S, Walker J, et al. Cold Agglutinin Autoantibodies in a Patient without a Visible Coronary Sinus Ostium: Strategies for Myocardial Protection with Using Retrograde Cardioplegia. J Extra Corporl Technol. 2016;48: 79–82. PMID:27578898 PMCID: PMC5001525.
It was brought to my attention that a published article in JECT was very similar to an article published in the February 2017 issue of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia (JCVA) entitled “Cardiopulmonary Bypass Man- agement Complicated by a Stenotic Coronary Sinus and Cold Agglutinins”. The two articles were from the same group with the JECT article emphasizing more of the perfusion techniques. Despite the different emphasis, further review by the editors of both journals determined that the articles overlapped sufficiently to be considered the same. Although the article in JCVA was published after the one in JECT, the JCVA article was submitted before the JECT article. For these reasons the editor has retracted the Heath et al. article from JECT.
